Asbestos Testing

If we have identified any potential ACMs on your property, we will take samples of the suspected materials and have them tested in our UKAS-accredited laboratory. We use polarised light microscopy (PLM) or transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to analyse the samples and determine the presence and type of asbestos.

Asbestos Management Plan

Once we have identified the asbestos-containing materials on your property, we will provide you with an asbestos management plan. This plan will outline the location, condition, and risk of the ACMs on your property and recommend appropriate measures to control the risks.

Health Risks

Appearance

Asbestos may be present in various forms such as fibres, sheets, tiles, and sprayed coatings. It is usually grey, white, or blueish in colour and may have a fluffy, fibrous texture.

Handling Asbestos

Asbestos should only be handled by trained professionals who have the appropriate equipment and protective clothing. If asbestos-containing materials are damaged, they may release harmful fibres into the air that can easily be inhaled. This is why it is important to have your property tested for asbestos and to take appropriate measures to manage the risk.
