Asbestos is a naturally occurring material that was commonly used in the construction industry until the mid-1980s. It was popular because of its fire resistant, soundproofing, and insulation properties. However, the problem with asbestos is that it is now proven to be a health hazard, and prolonged exposure to it can lead to a range of diseases, including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis.

Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) are often found in older buildings, including schools, hospitals, offices, and homes. ACMs can include ceiling tiles, pipe insulation, cement sheets, roofing tiles, and flooring tiles, among others. These materials may contain asbestos fibers that can become airborne when damaged, disturbed or deteriorated, causing health risks to anyone exposed to it.
