An asbestos survey is a thorough inspection of a property to determine if there is any asbestos present. There are two types of asbestos surveys: management surveys and refurbishment/demolition surveys.

A management survey is carried out to assess the presence and condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) that may be disturbed or damaged during normal occupancy or maintenance activities. A refurbishment/demolition survey is required before any refurbishment or demolition work is undertaken as it identifies and locates all known and suspected ACMs in the building.
